Market wrap: VN-Index slides 0.6%

The VN-Index slid 0.6% (-7.2 pts) on Wednesday to close the trading day at 1,304.7. Only seven members of the large-cap VN30 group posted gains. Across the index, there were 128 gainers, 343 laggards, and 69 stocks unchanged. Total trading volume increased from the previous trading day to USD870.2mn.

* Among banks, BID (-0.4%), CTG (-0.9%), TCB (-0.7%), VPB (-0.5%), HDB (-0.2%), and STB (-1.0%) declined. MBB (+0.6%) and LPB (+0.9%) saw their share prices increase. VCB and ACB were unchanged.  

* In real estate, BCM (-0.9%), KDH (-0.7%), KBC (-1.3%), NVL (-0.9%), SIP (-2.5%), and PDR (-2.7%) sharply fell. VHM (+1.6%) and VIC (+0.7%) solidly gained.  

* Numerous basic materials stocks plunged, including HPG (-1.1%), HSG (-2.1%), GVR (-1.5%), and DGC (-1.8%).  

* Other notable laggards included milk producer VNM (-1.3%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-1.3%), tech company FPT (-0.6%), utility company GAS (-1.0%), and oil & gas companies BSR (-1.5%) and PLX (-1.7%).
