Market wrap: VN-Index sees minor decline of 0.1%

The VN-Index saw a minor decline of 0.1% (-1.5 pts) on Wednesday to close the trading day at 1,266.9.

Today, the Government proposed revising the 2025 socio-economic development plan, setting an ambitious GDP growth target of at least 8%, a significant shift from the 6.5%-7% range approved by the National Assembly in November 2024.

Across the index, there were 209 gainers, 226 laggards, and 93 stocks unchanged. Total trading volume declined compared to the previous trading day to USD442.0mn.

* Banks comprised seven of the top ten stocks weighing on the index. These were BID (-1.1%), VCB (-0.4%), MBB (-1.3%), TCB (-0.8%), CTG (-0.5%), ACB (-0.8%), and VIB (-0.7%). LPB (+0.9%) and STB (+0.4%) gained.  

* Multiple industrial goods & services tickers posted strong gains, including GEE (+6.9%), GEX (+1.7%), VTP (+3.9%), and VSC (+1.9%).  

* Large-cap basic materials stocks HPG (-0.9%), NKG (-2.0%), GVR (-0.5%), and DGC (-0.1%) fell.  

* VIC (-0.1%), FPT (-0.3%), airline HVN (-0.7%), and utility companies POW (-0.4%) and PGV (-1.8%) were some of the key performers from various sectors.
