Market wrap: VN-Index rises 0.5%

The VN-Index rose 0.5% (+5.7 pts) on Friday to close the trading day at 1,276.1. Foreign net selling hit its lowest daily value since the Lunar New Year holiday. Across the index, there were 275 gainers, 183 laggards, and 75 stocks unchanged. Total trading volume sharply increased compared to the previous trading day to USD586.5mn.

* In the banks sector, BID (+1.6%) surged, and VPB (+0.5%), TCB (+0.2%), and HDB (+0.7%) modestly gained. CTG (-0.7%), MBB (-0.2%), LPB (-0.5%), and STB (-1.4%) declined.

* Financial services stocks posted strong gains, with SSI (+0.4%), VCI (+1.3%), HCM (+1.0%), and VND (+0.8%) advancing and DSE (+6.9%) and EVF (+6.9%) jumping.  

* The oil & gas sector performed well as BSR (+1.3%), PLX (+0.8%), and PVD (+3.2%) increased.

* There were numerous surging stocks from various sectors, including tech company FPT (+1.3%), utility company GAS (+1.5%), rubber producer GVR (+3.1%), steelmaker HPG (+0.8%), and airline HVN (+6.9%).
