Market wrap: VN-Index rises 0.3% to close week

On Friday, the VN-Index rose 0.3% (+3.8 pts) to close the trading week at 1,296.8. After falling on Monday, the index has gained for four consecutive days (1.5% net gain for the week). Across the index, there were 202 gainers, 258 laggards, and 76 stocks unchanged. Total trading volume declined from the previous trading day to USD623.2mn.  

* In the banks sector, VCB (+1.5%), CTG (+1.6%), VPB (+1.3%), and ACB (+0.9%) posted strong gains. TCB (-0.2%) was the only large-cap decliner in the sector.  

* In real estate, VHM (-0.6%), VIC (-0.7%), VRE (-0.6%), and KDH (-1.6%) dropped while BCM (+3.5%), NVL (+0.5%), and SIP (+2.1%) gained.  

* Some of the noteworthy gainers from other sectors included rubber producer GVR (+0.2%), milk producer VNM (+1.2%), retailer MWG (+2.5%), utility company POW (+1.2%), and insurance company BVH (+1.9%).  

* Notable laggards included tech company FPT (-0.7%), steelmaker HPG (-0.4%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-0.6%), utility company GAS (-0.6%), and airline HVN (-0.5%).
