The VN-Index fell 0.8% (-9.9 pts) on Tuesday to close the trading day at 1,197.1. Large-cap stocks from a variety of sectors fueled the market’s decline. Across the index, there were 132 gainers, 400 laggards, and 46 unchanged stocks. Total trading volume sharply increased from the previous trading day to USD1.3bn.
* Numerous banks saw a decline, including TCB (-2.3%), VPB (-0.6%), BID (-0.4%), CTG (-0.4%), HDB (-0.5%), and VIB (-0.8%). VCB (+0.5%), MBB (+0.7%), LPB (+0.6%), and STB (+0.5%) gained.
* Real estate performed poorly, as VIC (-4.1%), BCM (-5.8%), KDH (-3.0%), PDR (-6.7%), DIG (-6.9%), and SIP (-6.7%) plunged. VHM (+4.5%), VRE (+1.0%), and NVL (+3.4%) surged.
* The stocks most weighing on the index from other sectors were rubber producer GVR (-5.9%), oil & gas company BSR (-4.5%), tech company FPT (-1.2%), milk producer VNM (-1.2%), utility company GAS (-1.0%), securities company SSI (-2.8%), and construction company VGC (-6.6%).
* Notable gainers from other sectors included steelmaker HPG (+0.4%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (+1.0%), airline HVN (+4.6%), and retailers MWG (+3.1%) and FRT (+5.8%).
