Market wrap: VN-Index edges down 0.17%, turnover reaches a monthly low

On Thursday, the VN-Index edged down 0.17% (-2.28 pts) to close the trading day at 1,323.8. Declines were seen across sectors but the majority were marginal. Throughout the index, there were 156 gainers, 278 laggards, and 82 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume dropped 14% compared to the previous trading day to USD628.6mn, marking a monthly low. 

* In the Banking sector, SHB (+3.7%) surged. BID (-1.1%) and LPB (-1.3%) plunged, while VCB (-0.5%) and TCB (-0.9%) declined.   

* In Property, VHM (-0.6%), VRE (-1.5%), BCM (-0.8%), and PDR (-1.0%) fell. KDH (+1.4%), TCH (+3.3%), VIC (+0.2%), and KBC (+0.3%) gained.  

* Financial Services saw declines across the majority such as HCM (-1.9%), SSI (-0.8%), VIX (-0.4%), and VCI (-0.3%). 

* Other notable decliners included Consumer Services stocks HVN (-1.2%), MWG (-0.7%), VJC (-0.2%), and PET (-2.9%), as well as Industrials stocks GEE (-3.5%), GMD (-1.0%), VGC (-0.8%), and PVT (-0.8%). 

* Tech stocks performed well as FPT (+2.6%), ELC (+2.5%), CMG (+0.6%), and SAM (+0.3%) gained. The Materials sector also outperformed the benchmark thanks to gains from GVR (+1.3%), DGC (+0.6%), SHI (+3.4%), and HRC (+6.4%).
