The VN-Index edged down 0.1% (-1.8 pts) on Tuesday to close the trading day at 1,272.1. The market’s decline was primarily led by large-cap banks and real estate companies. Throughout the index, there were 170 gainers, 223 laggards, and 80 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume plunged compared to the previous trading day to USD567.7mn.
* Five banks were among the top-ten stocks pushing the index down. These were VCB (-0.8%), VPB (-0.8%), STB (-1.5%), MBB (-0.6%), and TCB (-0.4%).
* In real estate, VHM (-1.2%) and VIC (-1.6%) plunged while VRE (-0.9%) and NVL (-0.9%) also fell. BCM (+0.2%) and KDH (+0.3%) gained.
* Some of the strong gainers in other sectors included tech company FPT (+1.7%), steel maker HPG (+0.9%), airline HVN (+1.8%), beer maker SAB (+1.0%), and consumer foods producer KDC (+4.8%).
* Rubber producer GVR (-1.1%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-0.7%), utility company GAS (-0.4%), and retailer MWG (-0.5%) were among the noteworthy laggards throughout the index.
