Market wrap: VN-Index declines 0.5%

The VN-Index declined 0.5% (-6.6 pts) on Tuesday to close the trading day at 1,229.1, hitting the lowest point since November 22 of last year. In a reversal of yesterday, the banks sector had a strong negative effect on the market. Throughout the index, there were 112 gainers, 268 laggards, and 76 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume fell sharply compared to the previous trading day to USD334.8mn, the lowest figure since April 2023.  

* The banks putting the most pressure on the index were CTG (-1.9%), BID (-0.8%), HDB (-2.5%), TCB (-0.8%), and MBB (-0.9%). LPB (+0.5%) and STB (+0.3%) gained.  

* In real estate, VRE (-3.6%), PDR (-1.9%), and NVL (-5.7%) plunged. KBC (+2.5%) surged as news was released that the company received investment approval for its Trang Due 3 industrial park.  

* The financial services sector performed poorly, with SSI (-0.8%), VCI (-0.9%), HCM (-0.9%), and VND (-2.6%) declining.  

* Other notable laggards across sectors included tech company FPT (-1.7%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-2.0%), airline HVN (-2.9%), and rubber producer GVR (-1.3%).
