Market wrap: VN-Index declines 0.44% on low turnover

On Wednesday, the VN-Index saw a loss of 0.44% (-5.83 pts) to close the trading day at 1,326.09. The Banking sector had the most negative impact on the market, led by VCB and CTG. Additionally, the Technology sector also dragged the benchmark down due to the decline in FPT. Throughout the index, there were 176 gainers and 286 laggards. Total trading value decreased 4% compared to the previous trading day to USD734mn.  

* The Banking stocks that declined included VCB (-0.6%), CTG (-1.3%), MBB (-0.8%), LPB (-1.6%). However, TCB (+0.4%) and OCB (+0.4%) gained.  

* Several Financial services stocks saw their share prices declined notably, including SSI (-1.5%), HCM (-3.0%), VCI (-1.7%), and FTS (-2.6%).  

* In the Technology sector, along with the decline in FPT (-2.8%), CMG (-3.3%) also performed poorly.  

* Other notable laggards across sectors included Industrials tickers such as CTR (-5.7%) and VGC (-1.9%), Property sector KDH (-2.3%), KBC (-1.3%), and DIG (-2.5%).  

* In contrast, the Basic materials, Oil & Gas sectors outperformed the index thanks to gains on HPG (+1.3%), DPR (+4.0%), DGC (+0.3%), BSR (+1.0%), PLX (+0.5%), and PVD (+0.4%).
