Market wrap: VN-Index advances 0.4%

On Tuesday, the VN-Index advanced 0.4% (+5.2 pts) to close the trading day at 1,268.5. Bank and tech stocks were strong as the market rebounded from yesterday’s losses. Throughout the index, there were 257 gainers, 219 laggards, and 65 stocks unchanged. Total trading volume plunged compared to the previous trading day to USD556.4mn. 

* The banks sector largely performed well, as BID (+0.3%), CTG (+0.9%), TCB (+0.6%), and LPB (+1.2%) gained. VCB (-0.3%) and HDB (-0.2%) were the only large-cap decliners in the sector.  

* Numerous tech stocks surged, including FPT (+2.4%), CMG (+1.4%), SAM (+2.6%), and ELC (+3.9%). 

* Gainers to note include steelmaker HPG (+2.8%), oil & gas company PLX (+1.9%), chemical company DCM (+1.5%), logistics company VTP (+2.9%), and fish exporter VHC (+1.9%).  

* Real estate company BCM (-1.1%), beer producer SAB (-1.2%), retailer MWG (-1.7%), and utility company GAS (-0.5%) were among the notable laggards from other sectors.
