Market wrap: VN-Index sinks despite strong day from banks

The VN-Index dropped four-tenths of a percent on Friday, ending a three-day winning streak despite a strong performance from the banking sector. For the week, the VN-Index increased 4.4%.

* MSN (-3.7%) pulled back after increasing 7% over the previous three days and was the top contributor to the day’s loss.

* In the oil & gas sector, GAS (-1.8%) and PLX (-2.0%) both declined.

* Other notable decliners included VNM (-1.7%), HPG (-2.0%), GVR (-3.4%) and VJC (-2.0%).

* Banks BID (+2.2%), LPB (+6.6%), VIB (+1.3%), ACB (+1.3%), EIB (+1.8%) and SHB (+1.9%) were among the day’s top contributing gainers.
