Market wrap: VN-Index jumps to new all-time high

The VN-Index surged to an all-time high, jumping 2.3% on Wednesday — its biggest single-day gain in more than three months — as investors were spurred by the possibility of the Vietnamese Government preparing an economic stimulus package. Furthermore, total trading turnover on HOSE soared to USD1.24bn — its highest level in over five weeks.

*  GAS (+6.9%) skyrocketed to the daily trading ceiling, hitting a record high, and was the top contributor to the day’s gain.

*  VIC (+3.0%) and its subsidiary VHM (+2.9%) climbed to seven-week and two-week highs, respectively.

*  MSN (+5.2%) experienced its largest daily increase since May 20. Fellow consumer sector stocks SAB (+2.9%) and MWG (+3.1%) also advanced.

*  HPG (+2.8%) has increased 5.1% over the last two days.

*  Banks VCB (+2.2%), CTG (+4.0%) and VPB (+2.4%) were among the day’s top 10 contributing gainers.
