Market wrap: VN-Index falls 2.7%, wiping out Wednesday’s gain
The VN-Index dropped 2.7% on Thursday and wiped out its 2.4% gain in the previous session to close at 1,074.52 — its lowest level since January 29, 2021 — as selling pressure hit all sectors.
* Steelmaker HPG (-6.2%) was the top contributor to the day’s loss and has plunged 21.7% percent since September 22.
* Banks VCB (-2.0%), MBB (-5.7%), TCB (-3.9%) and BID (-2.5%) declined. On the other hand, EIB (+6.3%) was the day’s top contributing gainer and has surged 13.7% over the last two days.
* Securities brokerages VND (-6.7%), HCM (6.9%), VCI (6.9%) and SSI (-6.7%) plunged.
* Consumer tickers MSN (-5.1%) and MWG (-6.7%) suffered significant losses.
* GVR (-6.8%) has dropped more than 6% in three out of the last four trading sessions.
