Market wrap: VN-Index closes above 1,500

The VN-Index advanced 1.1% on Thursday to close at a five-week high of 1,507.99 as money flowed to large-cap stocks with 29 of the VN30 Index’s components gaining.

* GAS (+3.7%) jumped to a three-month high and was the leading contributor to the day’s gain.

* MSN (+3.1%) has increased in seven out of the past nine trading sessions.

* Banks BID (+1.9%), VPB (+1.8%), TCB (+1.2%) and MBB (+1.7%) climbed.

* PGV (-2.5%) was the top contributing decliner and has dropped 8% so far this week.
