VN-Index blasts through resistance to 8-year high. Third time's a charm. After two failed attempts to break above the 640 level over the last two years, investors on Monday sent shares rocketing up 7.66 points, or 1.2%, to 647.96, the index's highest level since 2008. The index has risen for six straight sessions and has been on a 24% tear over the last five and a half months. VCB (+3.6%), which reached an 11-month high, was the biggest contributor to the index, followed by VNM (+1.4%).
