Asian markets took a heavy beating on Monday on a combination of fears over the European debt crisis and concerns of a global slowdown. In Vietnam, the SBV’s newly-instigated 6% cap on short term deposits was not enough to encourage funds to flow into Vietnamese equities as broader concerns about the Eurozone fallout, natural disasters’ impact on the CPI, and economic uncertainty led domestic investors to stay on the sidelines.
