The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Vietnam has been contained so far; as of March 11, 2020, there have been 39 confirmed cases — 16 of whom have fully recovered. However, the number of worldwide infections has surged in the past two weeks to around 120,000 with the death toll topping 4,300 (3.6% fatality rate), leading the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare COVID-19 a global pandemic.
