Market wrap: VN-Index surges 1.7%

The VN-Index surged 1.7% (+27.9 pts) on Tuesday to close the trading day at 1,680.5. Half of the top ten gainers lifting the index were banks. Across the index, there were 208 gainers, 93 laggards, and 55 unchanged stocks. Total trading volume declined from the previous trading day to USD1.1bn.

* The banks above were VPB (+4.1%), TCB (+2.7%), VCB (+1.4%), HDB (+3.5%), and BID (+1.6%). There were no laggards in the sector. 

* Real estate stocks VIC (+2.9%), VRE (+1.9%), BCM (+1.5%), KDH (+3.1%), PDR (+4.3%), and DXG (+3.9%) sharply rose. 

* Industrials performed well, as GEE (+1.2%), GEX (+6.3%), VGC (+1.2%), VCG (+2.4%), and VTP (+1.3%) posted strong gains. 

* Noteworthy gainers from other sectors included tech company FPT (+4.3%), steelmaker HPG (+2.1%), utility company GAS (+1.2%), retailer MWG (+3.9%), and airline VJC (+6.9%).
